Psalm 40

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.

1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.
4 Blessed is the man
who makes the LORD his trust,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods. [a]
5 Many, O LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done.
The things you planned for us
no one can recount to you;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare.
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but my ears you have pierced [b] , [c] ;
burnt offerings and sin offerings
you did not require.
7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll. [d]
8 I desire to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart."
9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly;
I do not seal my lips,
as you know, O LORD.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and salvation.
I do not conceal your love and your truth
from the great assembly.
11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD;
may your love and your truth always protect me.
12 For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to save me;
O LORD, come quickly to help me.
14 May all who seek to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.
15 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"
be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation always say,
"The LORD be exalted!"
17 Yet I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O my God, do not delay.

Fort Worth

Well we got to Fort Worth Tuesday around 7:30. Our hotel was down town across from the Convention Center, which is where the NATDA (North America Trailer Distributor Association) convention was held. Chris and I had a great time! Seminars Wednesday...a little boring, Trade Show Thursday...a lot of talking, Friday was "our day", and Saturday we drove to Waco, Tx to pick up a trailer on the way home...not really on the way home!

This is all painted on the side of this building...
This was hanging inside the Convention Center...a star made of cowboy hats.
Downtown Fort Worth

While in Fort Worth the weather was beautiful!! We were able to walk everywhere we went. Wednesday night we ate at a restaurant named Reatta...very interesting! It had a seating area on the roof, which we requested of course! I ordered "wild boar ribs"... it was definitely different but the only thing on the menu that I knew somewhat of what it was! Leslie, Chris' boss, had grilled quail...

We topped the night off with Marble Slab ice cream which was a first experience and I must say, if you haven't tried it, PLEASE DO!!!! I had cheese cake with with sprinkles in a waffle cone!!

We then went out to eat with Diamond C Thursday night, a trailer manufacturer that Chris buys from. We ate at Joe T Garcia's. It was a Mexican restaurant that seated 1,000 people and only serves fajitas or enchiladas on the weekends. We had chicken and beef fajitas...it was amazing!

Friday we drove around and went sight seeing. We didn't really have plans or an agenda...just enjoyed doing whatever! We did get to see the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in progress.

Monday, August 25

So... Chris and I are heading to Fort Worth tomorrow. He is picking me up from work around noon and we are getting on the road. I tried to love on Colby as much as possible! We played, talked and laughed, got a warm bath, ate a little and then I held him til he fell asleep. I can't thank the Lord enough for this wonderful little boy! He is the best thing that has happend to us!! I am looking forward to a nice getaway with my husband, and I just ask that you pray for us in this new adventure as parents. It will be hard to be away, especially being the first time, but he will be well taken care of. Aunt Erin, Granna and Mimi are in charge!! And believe me, there are no worries between those three!! Colby will be ROTTEN!! See you when we get back!!

Wednesday, August 20

I got this as a shower gift from my aunt and cousin and put it together when I was 8 months pregnant (I don't suggest doing) with a little help from Aunt Erin! (Her attention span is about like Colby's) I waited and waited to put him in it. I kept saying he is still too small. But I couldn't wait any longer. So we have a little help with blankets holding him up but he didn't mind! We had so much fun talking, laughing and playing in our new toy!!! I just LOVE him!!

Rankin County Baptist Family Night

Our church attended the Baptist Family Gathering IV last night. The youth went to First Baptist Pearl and worshiped with Chris Layton from Mendenhall and then heard an awesome message given by Tom Richter from Briarwood, NY. It was an awesome night! The music was great and the message was unbelievable! We finished the night out at Waffle House...

Movin' Up!

Yay! We finally got DSL!!! For those of you who don't know, when we bought our house two years ago, we ended up in a dead zone in Clearbranch when it came to DSL. We were so bummed. Chris has called Windstream atleast five times a month bugging them about getting it in our area. (this is only a 2 mile radius that doesn't have it!) They came Friday and set it up for us. NO MORE DIAL UP!! Chris was like a kid a Christmas. He called probably 10 times Friday afternoon seeing if the guy had shown up and if he was finished. :)

Thursday, August 14

We just reached the 3 month mark! It seems like just yesterday we brought Colby home from the hospital.
